Seattle Beautiful’s editorial standards are designed to keep our local coverage useful, accurate, transparent and readable. These standards apply to articles, neighborhood guides, maps, directories and sports pages.
Accuracy and sourcing
Factual claims should be supported by credible information. Depending on the subject, sources may include government agencies, official venue and organization websites, public records, established historical institutions, reputable reporting, mapping data and direct statements from responsible organizations or businesses. Time-sensitive information should be checked against a current primary source whenever possible.
Neighborhood and place guides
A neighborhood guide must provide information specific to that neighborhood. Published guides are expected to contain clean research, multiple locally relevant topics, verified places, useful internal connections and readable presentation. Empty directories, research markers, automated error responses and generic padding are withheld from publication.
Research and drafting technology
Seattle Beautiful may use software and artificial-intelligence tools to assist with research organization, summaries, formatting, internal linking and draft preparation. These tools do not replace editorial responsibility. Generated material must be reviewed for relevance, unsupported claims, duplication, malformed source text and factual errors before publication. Pages that fail automated or human review remain drafts or are removed from search until corrected.
Original value
We aim to add value beyond repeating a source. That value may come from local organization, comparison, route planning, historical context, verified place information, photography, maps, practical visitor guidance or connections between related Seattle coverage.
Commercial relationships
Advertising helps support the publication. Ads are kept separate from editorial decisions. Sponsored or affiliate material must be identified where required, and payment does not guarantee favorable treatment.
Updates and corrections
Material errors are corrected as promptly as practical. Significant corrections may be noted on the affected page. Small spelling, formatting and clarity changes may be made without a separate notice when they do not alter the substance of the coverage.
