History of Belltown
Belltown is a distinct Seattle neighborhood in the Downtown area. Its story is part of Seattle’s growth from Indigenous homelands and a maritime frontier city into today’s diverse Pacific Northwest metropolis. Transportation routes, housing development, local businesses, schools, parks, and successive generations of residents have all helped shape the neighborhood’s identity.
