Thanksgiving in Seattle: A Holiday Weekend Plan 2026

Thanksgiving is a good reason to slow down and choose a few Seattle experiences to share with visiting family or friends. The holiday is the fourth Thursday of November; this edition’s date is November 26, 2026. Plan the holiday meal first, then place sightseeing and shopping around confirmed opening information. A normal weekly schedule is not evidence that a venue is operating on Thanksgiving Day.

Separate Thursday from the rest of the weekend

Pike Place Market’s official FAQ identifies Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day as its annual closure days. Schedule a market visit for another day and confirm the individual businesses you want to see. Do not confuse a restaurant elsewhere in the city, a similarly named business or a previous year’s holiday-hours page with confirmation for a particular market merchant.

For a visit before or after the holiday, use the market’s own map and visitor information to choose a few stops. Decide whether the purpose is groceries, gifts, a meal or browsing, and leave space for the people in your group to choose something themselves. A useful market visit does not require seeing every level or arriving with a minute-by-minute route.

Choose a neighborhood outing, with a backup

Use the Seattle neighborhood hub to pick one part of the city rather than planning several cross-town trips around a meal. Kerry Park and Alki Beach are two very different settings to research for an outdoor pause: a viewpoint visit and a waterfront visit. Our place guides and Explorer Map help compare locations. Neither option is a promise of clear skies, a holiday program or a particular facility being open.

Choose the outing after considering where you are staying, the meal location and how much time your group wants outdoors. Keep a shorter alternative close to your accommodation. For an indoor attraction, check its own Thanksgiving and weekend arrangements before buying a ticket, including entry times and any accessibility needs.

Confirm dining and transport directly

Use our food-and-coffee hub as a starting point for research, then ask the restaurant about the specific holiday date. Confirm whether it is offering its normal menu, a special menu, a takeaway order or no service. Check reservation availability, the total expected price, dietary questions and the policy that applies to your booking before committing. This guide does not list unverified Thanksgiving openings or dining deals.

Check holiday transport information for the actual day you intend to travel. If you use the Monorail, read its current service information and station guidance, and keep the return journey in your plan. A sightseeing idea is easier to enjoy when the group knows where it is meeting and how it is getting home.

Leave room for the beginning of the holiday season

Seattle Center’s Winterfest page is a useful organizer link for checking seasonal programming after Thanksgiving. Read the year on the page and each activity’s own date; a season-long program does not mean every performance happens daily. Combine one confirmed activity with a meal or another nearby stop instead of assuming a whole weekend can follow the same operating hours.
